A check-in desk that already knows everyone

The desk starts with a finished field

Check-in is only chaotic when the field is still being assembled at the table. In Parful the field was confirmed during registration: the desk opens knowing every player, the order they arrived on, their group, and their starting assignment. Missing player names were chased through worklists in the final week, not discovered at 7am.

Search or scan as people arrive

The desk is a searchable field list. Type a few letters of a name and the player comes up with their group; check them in and the arrival count moves. The player who only knows their company finds their spot the same way, because the desk can find them through the order that bought it.

Check-in is per player, which is what saves the partial foursome: check in the three who are standing there, and the fourth checks in when the car is parked. Nothing about a group blocks on its slowest member.

Substitutions happen at the desk

Somebody always cannot make it, and the replacement is standing there in golf shoes. The morning desk is where the field actually gets confirmed, including those substitutions, so the tee sheet, the scoring links and the results reflect who really played rather than who registered in April.

From the table to the first tee

Checked-in players head out with their group and starting assignment, which for a shotgun start means a hole number, not a tee time. The organizer watches the arrival count climb toward complete and can see exactly who is still missing when the horn is fifteen minutes out.
