Parful Clubs

Two teams, three sessions, one board everyone is watching

Everyone knows the shape from the professional event: two teams, pairs on Friday and Saturday, singles on Sunday, half a point for a halved match and a number that clinches it. Clubs have run their own version for years on a whiteboard. Parful Clubs runs it as a competition, scored from the players’ phones, with the board doing the arithmetic.

For the sixteen members who split into two sides every August, the member-guest where twelve members each bring a partner, and the club that divides itself by age or by nine and plays for a cup that changes hands. One thing first: the team cup is enabled club by club during beta. Ask support to switch it on before you announce it.

Size, roster, teams and sessions

With the cup switched on, setup is a stepped wizard that saves as you go. Player count presets run from 8 to 24, each with a recommended session structure (four-ball, foursomes, singles), the total points on offer and the points to win; where the math needs players to sit out a session, the preset says how many. The roster type is members only, member-guest where each member brings a partner and the pair stays together in the team sessions, or mixed.

Teams are assigned by hand, at random, or balanced by handicap. Sessions follow: accept the recommended structure or build your own, each with a format (singles, four-ball, foursomes, greensomes, Chapman or scramble match), a number of matches and points per match, so a final singles session can be worth more. Then the rules: halves allowed or not, a shared cup or another rule if the cup is tied, and gross or net with an allowance per session format.

  • Every player needs a handicap index, guests included; the wizard tracks which are missing before it lets you publish
  • One outing per day; each session’s matches are assigned to its day and the tee sheet follows from the matches
  • Lineups lock once scoring opens on a session. There is no captain role; the organizer sets the teams, the sessions and the lineups

Matches scored from the cart, the board keeps count

One scorer per group enters the holes in the phone browser from a QR code, PIN or link, with no app and no account. A match assigned to the day’s outing resolves from that card, up, down, all square, dormie, closed out, and the point or half point lands on the board the moment the match is decided. A match played away from the outing, a playoff on the putting green, is recorded as a result by the organizer.

The cup board is public, on a phone or the clubhouse television: the two team totals, a bar with the clinch mark on it, the session totals, and every match as a row. When a team reaches the points to win, the board says the cup is clinched; if the sides tie, it names a shared cup or applies the rule you chose.

  • Side games run on the singles day, started by any signed-in member from the outing page. On a pairs session the card belongs to the pair, so they are refused
  • The Team scoreboard report prints from the Report Center, session by session, for the dinner
  • Rounds go into each player’s history and handicaps revise at close-out

A 16-player member-guest weekend

Eight members, eight guests, three days, the cup switched on. Every step is one the product runs today for a club with the feature enabled.

Before
Confirm with support that the cup is on. Choose 16 players and the member-guest roster type, add the members and guests with handicap indexes, and let the wizard balance the teams by handicap with the pairs kept together.
The sessions
Four four-ball matches, four foursomes, eight singles: sixteen points, eight and a half to win, net with the default allowance, halves allowed, shared cup on a tie. Three outings, one session assigned to each.
Friday four-ball
Pairs score from the cart and the board takes its first points. No individual side games, because the card belongs to the pair.
Saturday foursomes
One ball per pair, alternate shot, four more points on the board; a halved match records the half.
Sunday singles
Members against members and guests against guests, skins running in the groups, until the board says the cup is clinched on the sixteenth green of the sixth match.
After
Print the Team scoreboard report for the dinner, close out the three outings, and let a standing over the three days name the individual winner.

Running the weekend before the cup is switched on

A club without the cup can still run a team weekend today. Give each day an outing and assign a team competition to it: four-ball better ball, foursomes, greensomes or a scramble on the pairs days, and a singles match play competition on Sunday whose matches resolve from the cards. The results and bracket pages are public, and a standing across the days names an individual winner.

What Parful does not keep in that mode is a two-team running total: the captains add the session results up themselves. That is the difference the cup removes. Until it is on, the cup does not appear in the competition create flow.

Worth knowing before you promise the group a cup

  • Up to 8 active members is free with no time limit, which covers the 8-player presets. Bigger groups start on a 30-day full-access trial and pay by active member count after it.
  • Guests need a handicap index like everyone else, entered by the organizer if the guest has none on file.
  • Hotels, travel and the dinner are outside the product. Round entries and add-ons can be sold through the club store, which is in beta.
  • A one-day corporate or charity scramble with no roster and no next year is Parful Events.

Team golf weekend questions

What app can run a team golf weekend?

Parful Clubs runs a two-team cup as a competition: player count presets from 8 to 24, sessions of singles, four-ball, foursomes, greensomes, Chapman or scramble match play, matches scored from phones, and a public board with team totals and the points to win. The cup is enabled club by club during beta, so ask support to switch it on. Without it, a club runs the pairs days as team competitions and the singles as match play, and keeps the team total itself.

Can we run a member-guest weekend?

Yes. The member-guest roster type pairs each member with one guest. Pairs stay together in the four-ball and foursomes sessions, and the singles session splits members against members and guests against guests. Guests need a handicap index, entered by the organizer if there is none on file.

How do we run the weekend if the cup is not switched on for our club?

Create an outing per day and assign a team competition to each pairs day (four-ball better ball, foursomes, greensomes or scramble) and a singles match play competition to Sunday. Pairs race on the leaderboard, singles matches resolve from the cards, and a standing across the days names the individual winner. The two-team running total is not kept in this mode; the captains add up the session results.

How are the points and the clinch worked out?

A win is a point and a half is half a point by default, with points per match adjustable per session. The points to win is half the total plus a half. The board tracks the team totals and says when a team has clinched. If the cup is tied at the end, the default is a shared cup; other tied-cup rules can be chosen at setup.

Do the matches need a separate scorecard?

No. The scorer in each group enters the holes once in the phone browser, and the match assigned to that outing resolves from the card. A match played outside the outing, such as a playoff, is recorded as a result by the organizer.

Ask for the cup before the weekend

Set up the club, add both teams with their handicaps, and ask support to switch the cup on. Free for up to 8 members; bigger groups start with a 30-day full-access trial.
