Start your knockout freeHow the bracket is made
The bracket is the next size up from your field: your 12 players play in a 16-slot bracket, and the 4 empty slots are byes. Byes go to the top seeds (seeds 1 to 4) and two byes never meet. Seeds are placed in the standard order Parful uses for a club knockout: seed 1 meets seed 16 first, and the top two seeds can only meet in the final.
A random draw shuffles your list with a seed made by Parful’s server at the moment you press Draw, and stamps the time. Anyone with the seed and the list can re-run the draw and get the same bracket. A draw by handicap puts the lowest handicap first; a draw in the order entered keeps your order as the seeds.
The rules of a knockout are at how a golf knockout works.
Questions
How do byes work in a golf bracket?
When the field is not a power of two, the bracket rounds up to the next size and the empty first-round places are byes. A player with a bye goes straight into round two. Byes go to the top seeds, so 12 players in a 16-slot bracket means seeds 1 to 4 have a bye, and two byes never meet.
What is the difference between single and double elimination?
In single elimination you lose once and you are out, so a field of N needs N − 1 matches. In double elimination your first loss drops you into a losers bracket and a second loss puts you out; it needs 2N − 2 matches, or 2N − 1 if the grand final has to be replayed.
What is a reset final in double elimination?
The winner of the losers bracket has already lost once, the winners-bracket champion has not. If the losers-bracket winner takes the grand final, both now have one loss, so a reset final decides it. Without a reset, one grand final decides the title.
How do I make a fair random draw for a club knockout?
Use a draw nobody can choose. Here the seed is made by Parful’s server when you press Draw and the time is stamped, so you can show members how the draw was made and anyone can re-run it from the seed and the list to check it.
Can I update the bracket as matches are played?
Yes. Tap a match and tap who won: the winner moves on at once, and in double elimination the loser drops into the losers bracket. You can change or clear a result at any time, and if that would undo later results the page lists them and asks before anything changes.
How do I share a golf bracket with the players?
Press Save and share. You get a link and a QR code that anyone can open on their phone to follow the bracket live, with no account, and a manage code so only you can record results. A saved bracket is kept for 12 months after its last change.
How do I print a golf tournament bracket?
Press Print bracket for the draw with names and results, or Print blank for an empty sheet to fill in by hand. It prints landscape on Letter or A4 with a box for every score, and a big field runs over a few sheets that say where each winner goes next.
Is there a free app to run a golf knockout?
Yes. Parful Clubs runs knockouts free for clubs of up to 16 members: the draw, matches settled from the scorecards, walkovers and concessions, and a public bracket page your members can follow on their phones.
