A gross aggregate is a season standings that adds each player's gross stroke play totals across the counting rounds and ranks the lowest sum first. It uses the same ordering as the net aggregate: rounds counted first, then total, so a player short of the full set never outranks a player who completed it.

How a gross aggregate works

A gross aggregate is scratch golf over several rounds: the strokes are added and the lowest total wins, with no handicap anywhere in the arithmetic. It is the format of every professional tournament and of most club scratch championships, and as a season standings it produces the club's scratch order of the year.

Because handicap is absent, the standings is dominated by the lowest handicappers and clubs usually run it alongside a net aggregate or in a scratch division. It answers a different question from the net table: not who played best against their handicap, but who played the best golf.

A gross total is the score the outing recorded. What happens to a card with a hole not completed is a matter for the competition's own rules; the aggregate takes whatever total was finalized on the day and does not adjust it.

Rounds counted before total

Adding strokes rewards playing fewer rounds, so the aggregate ranks first by the number of rounds counted, most first, and only then by total, lowest first. A player who has completed every counting round competes at the top; a player short of the set sits below, whatever the total. A missing round contributes nothing and is never scored as zero.

With a counting rounds cap of N, each player's N lowest totals are kept. Everyone at the cap is compared on their best N rounds and a player with fewer than N cannot overtake them.

Ties

Players level on rounds counted and total are separated by the listed tiebreakers, read in medal direction: the lowest single round, the lower most recent round, count-back lowest against lowest, or head-to-head over shared outings. If nothing separates them the position is shared and the next player takes the position after the gap.

How Parful runs it

Rafa: 74 + 77 + 72 + 75 = 298. Sam: 76 + 73 + 75 + 74 = 298. They share first. Tess played four, 71 + 78 + 76 + 77 = 302, third. Uma's two rounds are the two lowest scores of the season and she is fourth because she has only two counted.

Rafa drops the 79 and Sam drops the 81; the lowest four of each player's rounds are the ones kept.
With best single result listed as a tiebreaker, Rafa's 72 beats Sam's 73 and Rafa is first alone.
Tess's missing Medal 3 contributes nothing; she is not penalized beyond having no fifth score to drop.
